Seattle's bad roadways, what needs to happen?

I live on Beacon Hill, where the potholes are plenty and makes the rest of Seattle feel like the streets are paved with gold. Still though, the potholes and poor road surfaces in this city are simply atrocious compared to other cities I've visited. What needs to happen, or what can we do as people who pay city taxes, to get the city to slot money at the appropriate budget to provide better upkeep of our roads? This is just one of my pet peeves about living in this city, and I would gladly be willing to pay more money in taxes if I knew full well those extra taxes were going 100% to improving our roads. What does everyone else think?

For what it's worth, when I moved here last year, I remarked how much better the roads were here than they are in the south. Of course, the Seattle MSA is huge and I haven't even begun to travel to all the areas. But that was my initial reaction.

I am a Born and raised Seattleite and this city has been taken over by the Crazy Liberal Elite. The live in a Fantasy land where whatever they want reality to be is the way it is.
They dislike cars but they cannot be honest and tell everyone the truth about there agenda which is to force all the ignorant masses to ride there bicycles and the Trillion dollar lightrail system so they simply and purposely ignore the road system so that traffic will get SO horrible that everyone will be forced to Ride there bicycles or ride the incredibly expensive and wasteful lightrail system.
For example.... The most Obvious and almost Humerous example is the fact that we are one of the fastest growing cities in the country and have been for decades. Our traffic problems are right up there with Some of the worst traffic situations in the country and with all of this other cities are attempting to solve there traffic problems.
What is our solution...? And Most Seattleites don't know this which is surprising because the left doesn't like the truth to get out but...
The New Tunnel that is replacing the 3 lane Viaduct built in the early 60's with a 2 lane tunnel. Actually decreasing lanes ...! Crazy ..!
And many of the extreme Liberal Crazy's actually wanted to tear down the Viaduct and not rebuild it and actually force 100,000+ cars through the streets of downtown Seattle which would have had a DEVASTATING effect on the Seattle economy and causing Instant paralysis to the Downtown area.
But, Liberals don't care. They are the Smart, educated , enlightened ones that know what's good for us and if we don't get it than that's our fault.
