Hi Bruce, welcome!

When are you making the move to Seattle? What's bringing you this way?

Seattle has a wide variety of neighborhoods and suburbs to choose from. Can you tell us more about your living style? Where you'll be working? And can then give you some recommendations.

Hi Bruce. What Trac said.

As a native, I can help point you in a direction, if you want. Just let us know a little of what you're about, how far you want to commute and maybe where (location) you may be working. That will help narrow down some great neighborhood choices.

We are relocating to the Seattle area as well sometime in the next 2-3 years. We have always wanted to live in the Pacific Northwest, and things are lining up to make that possible. I do wedding and portrait photography in addition to working as a medic for Saint Anthony Hospital (will be completing my RN before the move), so initial employment shouldn't be an issue.

To be blunt, we just want out of Oklahoma. The education system is horrible, the politics are worse, and it's just kinda boring from both an outdoors point of view (I grew up in east Tennessee in the Appalachians), and just things to do in general. As for the kids, they just want to have mountains and snow lol.

new to seattle..

have moved from europe via east coast 20 years ago...
difficult to say about affordable. The city is going through massive gentrification...
neighborhoods;
downtown belltown expensive
capitol hill : hip young lgbt expensive
Ballard: white middleclass families expensive
queen ann: bohemina bourgeois expesive
wallingford by greenlale and zoo: expensive
university disctrict : expensive unless you want to live and share house with students. hard call. competitive.

further yet desirable
greenwood north of wallingford and u-district.
maybe
northgate still close north of greenwood by communiyt college
lake city on the other side of u-district . not sure. west. but maybe .
inbetween. look at map .

non official city parameter...
north: anything above shoreline/northgate
south: anyting south of I90 : beacon central mount baker georgetown
east: good luck
west: maybe west seattle ...gotta go through bridge and an dissapearing highway aurora ...so i say south park.

http://www.seattlerentals.com/v5_nei...neighbpage.gif

draw a line north and then south
north by northgate east to west and then south
of
beacon hill
hope that helps
N
